Description
Mac Conkey Agar is a nutrient medium for the isolation of Enterobacteriaceae. Gram(-) negative enterobacteria that ferment lactose produce red or pink colonies. Bile salts No. 3 and crystal violet inhibit the growth of gram(+) positive granules. The neutral red indicator changes color with the breakdown of lactose.
